Simple Workouts To Lose The Muffin Top and That Flabby Beer Gut

These 20 minute ab workouts are just a few examples of how you can put together high impact ab exercises to tone and strengthen all of the major abdominal muscle groups.  These workouts are designed to cycle from one muscle group to another.  The short rests between exercises allow you some time to recover and to make sure you’re not too fatigued to concentrate on form.

It’s true that if you want nice abs, you have to have strong, toned abdominal muscles.  That's one reason why doing these ab workouts is so important.

But keep in mind what I have said several times on this site about falling for the “six pack abs in weeks” sales pitch.  That doesn’t work. 

  • First, in order for muscle definition to show, there has to be very little fat between your muscles and your skin. 
  • Second, there is no such thing as targeted muscle burning. 

Ab work strengthens ab muscles, and that is very important.  But it does NOT target abdominal fat for burning.  To burn fat, you have to burn fat from the whole body.  That means the right diet, plenty of cardio exercise mixed in, and most importantly, the right goals.

These workouts are simple, easy to remember, and will really make a difference.  Check the individual exercise pages for modifiers to make the exercises easier or harder, or to just mix it up a little bit.

  • 15 V-Ups
  • Rest 30 seconds
  • Plank – 30 seconds
  • Rest 30 seconds
  • Right Side Plank
  • Rest 30 seconds
  • Left Side Plank
  • Rest 30 seconds

These 20 minute ab workouts are designed to be pretty simple and easy to remember.  For me, I'm a simple guy and don't want to have to remember 20 exercises to do in 20 minutes.  Give me about 4 that hits all the major muscle groups that I'm going after, and I'm happy.
